ABOUT US
We are five UCCS students in the Inclusive Elementary Education Program located in Colorado Springs, CO. As a part of our curriculum, we are providing a resource that connects creativity to mathematics; a way to encourage teaching mathematics with art in mind by sharing resources and curriculum that encourages that. Research has shown that creativity can engage students in mathematics.
According to the NAEYC, an article published in 2016 said, "What is missing in the current national discourse on the effectiveness of education is creativity pedagogies," and "Creativity gives value and meaning to learning and develops a motivational mindset that is empowering." Based upon this research, we know students need engaging and creative curriculum for their STEM classes to support their learning. Sir Ken Robinson's research on creativity supports our idea in that it matters.
We would love to hear from you and are open to creative mathematical curriculum submissions! Please email us at ArtisticMathematics@gmail.com
Cheers!
