What is a shape? According to the Big Ideas book, "Everything in the material world has a shape." In mathematics we focus on regular shapes like two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes. 
Two dimensional shapes include triangle, rectangle, circle, and square.
Three dimensional shapes are spheres and polyhedrons. These include boxes, pyramids, blocks, cylinders, and balls. These all are geometric solids and have flat faces and straight edges
